PLEASE VOTE on March 8 - Maintenance and Operations Levy 2011-2012

The Genesee Joint School District Board of Trustees voted on January 10, 2011 to maintain the Maintenance and Operations levy amount of $700,000 from the previous year. The estimated cost will be $4.76 per one thousand dollars. Last year it was $4.94 per one thousand dollars of assessed value.

The Maintenance and Operations Levy traditionally supports school programs and services not funded by the State of Idaho. It provides for ongoing operational needs which include: utilities, building maintenance, athletics, special education, vocational programs, technology, custodial supplies and personnel.

The District remains committed to careful management of these funds. The yearly support of our community is needed and greatly appreciated.
Date : March 8, 2011
Location: Latah County - Genesee Senior Center; NezPerce County - Ballots will be mailed to registered electors. Time: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Absentee Voting will take place at Latah County Courthouse, Auditor/Recorder's Office, Room 101, Moscow, ID and at Nez Perce County Courthouse, Auditor/ Recorder's Office, Room 100, Lewiston, ID.

Public Meeting Regarding Levy Election

I would like to invite the community to attend a meeting held Wednesday, February 9th in the Multi-Purpose Room at 6:30 p.m. The informational meeting will discuss the proposed one-year levy for the 2011-12 school year. The district is asking for a renewal of the current maintenance and operation levy of $700,000.

1) What is the purpose of the levy?
2) Average cost to taxpayers.
3) How will it affect my taxes?
4) What does a levy provide?
5) Election consolidation and voting locations.
